My home village of Cawthorne, nestles amid rolling farmland in the foothills of the Pennines, on the border of South and West Yorkshire.

With World Famous Racecourses such as Doncaster and York, Village League Cricket (which I played well into my forties), a wealth of league Football teams, World-Class Cheeses,

such as Wensleydale and Yorkshire Blue, the Rhubarb Triangle and the almost religious attraction of Real Ale boasting over 1500 Breweries, Yorkshire has fostered all of my passions and is a wonderful place to call home.

I have also been fortunate enough to fulfil a lifelong ambition of owning a racehorse,

in fact, I have part-owned two.

The first, a chestnut filly sired by 2000gns winner King's Best, hated racing, being retired

before the end of her three-year-old career.

The second, a wonderful bay filly sired by a French 2000gns winner out of a North American mare, was the exact opposite, winning or being placed in 16 of her 19 starts, including two wins at my favourite racecourse, York, restoring my faith in horses.

I have spent my working life in the worlds of Bookmakers, Cars and Finance as well as working with New Scotland Yard's Organised Crime Squad, which in addition to living in this Award-Winning Village, with its diverse personalities and micro-culture, has afforded me a wealth of experiences from which to draw and help create compelling characters and novels.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
